Foxconn---and---its general contractor Gilbane---Monday---announced a list of 28 subcontractors selected for site development work for its Wisconn Valley Science and Technology Park---an advanced display fabrication facility and research and development campus in Mount Pleasant. Delivering on its “Wisconsin first” commitment---all but one of those 28 companies are located in Wisconsin. The other is a Rockford, Illinois-based trucking company. 10 of the 27 Wisconsin companies are located in either Racine---Mount Pleasant---Sturtevant---Franksville or Burlington. A total of five others are located in Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties.
The local companies are: A.W Oakes & Sons and Metro Security from Racine---Case International located in Mount Pleasant---Environmental Control, Inc in Franksville---Fabick CAT Racine Rents---Hribar Corporation---and Pac-Van from Sturtevant---George Schroeder Trucking---Otter Sales and Service and Kapur Associates in Burlington.
Brett Seifert---who owns Metro Security---hinted that it was a BIG deal for his small company---but---was tight-lipped about the size of the contact awarded to his company. He tried to hold his emotions in about what it means for his company---but---told WGTD News that he is excited. Seifert--who has owned Metro Security for about 12 years---employs about 20 security officers and plans to add more because of this contract---but---he wouldn’t reveal how many. He explained that his company will be doing industry-standard security on the Foxconn site.
The contracts announced Monday have a total value of $100 million dollars. In a press release---Foxconn announced that this his phase of the project will require some 500,000 hours of site work and create 800 direct and indirect jobs. In the press release---Foxconn’s CEO Terry Gou is still predicting the creation of 13,000 jobs.
