1st District Dems to Debate at Least Twice

The two Democrats running for their party’s nomination in the First Congressional District are expected to participate in at least two face-to-face debates before the August 14th primary.

Cathy Myers and Randy Bryce have agreed to debate Sunday, July 8th in Lake Geneva and then on Wednesday the 11th in Kenosha.

The Kenosha forum will be held at UAW Local 72 from 6:30 to 8. It’s co-sponsored by the progressive political group, “Forward Kenosha.” Jodi Muerhoff is acting president. She says her group's members are excited to see the candidates appear side by side. "We want to see how these candidates perform before an audience together--how they handle questions on the spur of the moment," she said. "We want an opportunity to see which candidate will have the best opportunity to win the (general) election."

The debate in Lake Geneva on the 8th will be held from 7 until 8:30 at Badger High School. That debate is sponsored by the Walworth County Democratic Party.

Six Republicans will be on the GOP's primary ballot. Not included--incumbent Paul Ryan, who announced this spring that he won't seek re-election.
