Abbott's Miles White to Land (And Take Off) at Kenosha Regional Airport

The Kenosha Regional Airport is getting a high-profile tenant.

Long-time Abbott Chairman and C-E-O Miles White appeared before the Airport Commission Wednesday seeking a lease for a hangar that he’d like to build to house a personal jet.

White is proposing to build on a site not yet served by a ramp.

No problem. He’s offering to put one in and donate it back to the city in exchange for considerations to be named later.

The taxi way is expected to cost between $400,000 and $500,000.

The hangar would be big enough for two aircraft, as part of the space would be rented out to offset the cost of the building, according to White.

White, who's a pilot, said his planned purchase of a Gulfstream jet should not be viewed as some sort of sign that he's getting ready to retire. "Because I'm not," he said.

Abbott’s corporate aircraft are currently hangered at the Waukegan airport.

Representatives of White and the city are now expected to work out the details of the hangar contract.
