Salem Lakes---A report that two young children were pursued by an adult as they left Salem Grade School Wednesday sent school staff and deputies scrambling. But the report turned out to be a hoax.
According to a news release from the Kenosha County Sheriff's Dept., the 911 call came from a home near the Kenosha County school at 3:24 p.m.
The school was immediately locked down and dismissal for the rest of the students was put on hold.
Authorities were given a detailed description of the suspect and a news release was issued.
But a little over an hour later, another release was sent out, indicating that the story had been made up.
At last report, deputies were speaking with the involved children and their families.
