Body Found on Simmons Island

Kenosha---A fire--and a body--on Simmons Island overnight.

Early-morning scanner traffic indicated that police and firefighters were summoned just after midnight Wednesday on a report of some type of fire.

A body was discovered on or near a wooded embankment between the road that runs through the Lake Michigan park and the shoreline.

A police spokesman on the scene called it a "death investigation" without going any further. He said the fire and body were connected in the investigation.

The area was thoroughly searched for evidence and any additional bodies.

The scene is located just east of the restrooms and about 50 feet west of the actual shoreline.

No other information--including the gender and approximate age of the victim--was released.
