Cathy Myers: "We're on the Same Team Now!"

In the waning days of the Democrat's primary election campaign in the 1st congressional district, Cathy Myers made the electability of Randy Bryce a central theme. Bryce’s arrest record is something that Republicans have already pounced on. With Bryce having won the nomination Tuesday, how does Myers feel about it now?  "I think it is possible to overcome," Myers said of the arrests. "I mean he overcame it here."

Myers continued: "I think people are more interested perhaps in just making sure that we take back the House. And I also know that there's an incredible amount of dissatisfaction in this district with Republicans."

Bryce will be going up against Bryan Steil, who won his party's primary on Tuesday. Steil is a corporate attorney from Janesville and a member of the UW Board of Regents.

Myers was interviewed at her election watch party Tuesday night at The Branch in Racine. She used part of her concession speech to rally supporters behind Bryce. "To anyone who thinks this (primary) campaign was too fiery at times, Randy and I both have a message--Bryan Steil and the Republicans had better get ready!" she told the cheering crowd. "Because we're on the same team now. And we're going to give them everything we got for the next three months."

Bryce’s record includes a 1998 ticket for drunk driving and three subsequent driver’s license-related tickets stemming from the original charge.
