Colbert Packaging Up-And-Running in Kenosha by December

Another Illinois-based business is expanding into Kenosha.

Governor Scott Walker, County Executive Jim Kreuser and Mayor John Antaramian were all on hand---Tuesday morning--- to welcome representatives from the Colbert Packaging Corporation to the Business Park of Kenosha. The company produces packaging for a number of consumer and pharmaceutical products. Jim Hamilton---president of the family-owned company---that is headquartered in Lake Forest---said the100-plus jobs the firm is bringing to Wisconsin would be a combination of about 60 transfers from one of their Illinois facilities and new hires. The jobs include skilled labor and office personnel as well as warehouse employees.

A half-million dollars in development money from the city helped close the deal---but---Hamilton said there were plenty other reasons to move to Kenosha as well:  any of the current employees who will transfer to the Kenosha site already live in this area---and---the city’s closeness to I-94 and the convenience off Mitchell Int’l Airport compared to Chicago’s airports.

Colbert is moving its flexographic printing---and---warehouse operations to Kenosha. The company plans to phase in manufacturing operations in November---and---be fully operational by December 1st.
