Town of Randall---The body of a newborn was exhumed Thursday from its grave in St. John's Cemetery, the next step in solving a 27 year-old mystery.
The remains will be sent to a lab that specializes in extracting DNA from buried bones.
The dead baby was found by trappers under the Des Plaines River bridge at CTH 'N' in Paris in November of 1989. Sheriff's Dept. spokesman Eric Klinkhammer says the case was re-opened and a person of interest identified as the result of a fresh tip.
Although the case is classified as a homicide, the cause of death was never revealed.
Representatives of the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department, the Medical Examiner's office and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children were on hand.
