A big mid-day traffic tie-up on I-94 in Racine County was caused by a crash stemming from a driver who moments earlier had been trying to outrun deputies.
According to a news release from the Racine County Sheriff's Dept., deputies had stopped a vehicle on I-94 just before 11. The driver--a 28 year-old Milwaukee man--then purportedly took off at a high rate of speed. Deputies terminated the pursuit. A short while later the man apparently lost control and crashed in the south bound lanes near County KR.
The man, who had been wanted on a felony warrant, suffered non life-threatening injuries.
South bound traffic was diverted onto the frontage road for nearly two hours.
