Crime Wave: Two More Car Dealerships Broken Into

Two car dealerships---both located in Mount Pleasant---were broken into early this morning. About 1:45 officers responded to an alarm at Palmen Chrysler---8320 Washington Avenue. A suspect---or---suspects---smashed the glass on a showroom door and attempted to steal a Jeep Cherokee off the showroom floor by driving it into the showroom’s glass wall repeatedly---but---unsuccessfully. That Jeep was abandoned---and---left running---jammed against the wall---and---half way out of the building. An attempt to steal another vehicle on the showroom floor was also unsuccessful.

After that incident---police discovered a break-in at Racine Toyota---13350 Kilbourn Drive---as they were checking other dealerships. This time entry was made into the service department by breaking the glass of the service department door. A car---from inside the service department---was driven out---but---left sitting on the dealership lot.

It’s unclear if the two incidents are related---and---the investigation continues.

Police are still searching for the suspects who made off with two new Ford Escapes from Porcaro Ford---also in Mount Pleasant---back on the 4th of July. They are believed to be in the Milwaukee area.
