A Democratic candidate has surfaced for the race for the seat in the 61st Assembly District. That seat is currently held by Republican Samantha Kerkman. Gina Walkington---a Democrat from Bristol---announced her intention to run for the seat Thursday. Walkington is one of the founding members of the activist group Forward Kenosha. Representative Kerkman won re-election to that seat in 2016 by garnering 67% of the vote against her Democratic challenger. She has already filed to run for re-election. The filing deadline is June 1st.
