June 30, 2019 10:25a; Updated at 10:35 after the name of the bar called into question; Updated at 11:22a to identify the bar where the shooting occurred; Updated July 1

(WGTD)---The victim of a shooting that occurred in a Kenosha tavern at closing Saturday night has been identified as a 28-year-old man who's in critical but stable condition.

The man suffered a gunshot wound to the neck while at the MVP Bar at 3214 60th St.

The shooting occurred while several officers were outside of the bar trying to disperse a disorderly crowd that had been asked to leave by security, according to a police department news release that was issued Monday morning.

Those officers heard gunshots from inside the bar, but were unable to immediately enter because of the rush of people exiting. The release says numerous patrons found themselves stuck in the doorway with others pushing them from behind. The officers who were outside wound up having to pull out bodies from the human jam.

The release says a suspect has not yet been identified, and that anyone who has information or video of the incident should contact police (262-605-5203) or call Crimestoppers at 262-656-7333.

In addition, anyone who left personal items inside the bar but was prohibited by police from regaining entry is encouraged to contact the detective bureau at the 605-5203 number.
