Drinks and Religion to Merge for Christmas at Kenosha Watering Hole

Kenosha---More than a few impromptu philosophical discussions have taken place on bar stools over drinks. Now a north side tavern will be hosting a more organized approach.

On four Wednesday evenings beginning this week, First United Methodist will be taking over a back room at TG's Restaurant & Pub to hold discussions on the spirit of Christmas in today's world. The conversations will center on the Dickens'  classic, "A Christmas Carol."

Why not simply convene such forums at the church? First United is looking for a new way to reach out to non-church-going types. "Bars tend to be where younger people go," said Ellen Kupfer, Dir. of Religious Education at First United. "We're trying to reach out to a group of people who we wouldn't normally be able to reach."

The Wednesday evening sessions---from now through Christmas--will begin at 6:15.

Drinks are optional.
