Early-morning Fire Routs Family From Home

Kenosha---A family of five became temporarily homeless as a result of a basement fire early Wednesday morning.

Smoke alarms inside a two-story brick home at 6311 60th Ave. sounded just before 4 a.m. Although family members got out safely, they were all taken to the hospital for check-ups.

The blaze caused between $40,000 and $50,000 in damage, according to Fire Chief Chuck Leipzig.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Red Cross was called in to assist the family.
