Economic Development Agency Gets a Big Credit Line From Racine County Board

Is it Foxconn?

The Racine County Board voted unanimously Tuesday night to forward up to $500,000 to the Racine County Economic Development Corporation for use in either helping existing businesses expand or in attracting new ones, like Foxconn, the Taiwan-based electronics manufacturer.

Without dropping names, County attorney Michael Lanzdorf told the board that the credit line would make available an immediate funding source. The money could be spent on such things like acquiring land options.

Foxconn is reportedly being wooed by several states, including Wisconsin. County officials have repeatedly declined to comment on whether a potential site will be offered up from Racine County.

Thousands of jobs are at stake.
