A home---at 1227 Lawndale Avenue---in Mount Pleasant---was completely destroyed by an early (Monday) morning fire---and---the house next door was significantly damaged. A woman and a child went to the hospital with burns. Just after 2 o’clock this morning a woman called 9-1-1 to report a lot of smoke and flames inside---and---she was having trouble breathing. The occupants of the home got out safely as crews responded. The 57-year-old woman was treated for first and second degree burns to her arms and legs---and---a 5-year-old boy had minor burns. In their press release---the fire department indicated that the nearest fire hydrant had been cleared of snow for easy access and that prevented additional damage in the fire.
