Fire Destroys Used Car Lot; Damages a 6th Ave. Building

Aug. 24, 4:40a

(WGTD)---To seemingly cap the evening of turmoil in Kenosha, a used car lot was destroyed by fire early Monday morning.

The lot is located off of Sheridan Rd. at 58th St. According to scanner traffic, vandals blocked fire trucks from getting to the scene

Several dozen vehicles were gutted, with flames still visible from some over an hour after the alarm came in.

In another blaze, a building was damaged on the west side of 6th Ave. in the 5800 blk. The bulk of the fire damage appeared to be on the second floor.

Several young men, talking loudly with one holding a Black Lives Matter sign, walked brazenly past a couple of police officers at the fire scene, despite the emergency curfew.

Between the two fires, a smokey fog hung over the downtown area in the muggy air as some building and shop owners tended to shattered windows and doors and in some cases looting.
