Foxconn Notes: Site Still a Mystery; Many Details Still Under Wraps

Tuesday’s Foxconn hearing in Sturtevant drew a clearer picture of local officials’ involvement in luring the Taiwanese company to the state.

Turns out the locals have been at it behind closed doors since April.

The veil of secrecy is still in place as negotiations at both the state and local level apparently continue behind the scenes.

At Tuesday's hearing, state Administration Secretary Scott Neitzel briefly referenced something that hadn't before been publicly revealed. "I think both communities currently have an offer on the table to Foxconn," he said.

He didn’t elaborate and wasn’t pressed for details. Neither offer has surfaced publicly.

Potential sites in both Mt. Pleasant and in the Town of Paris are reportedly being evaluated by Foxconn.

Kenosha and Racine have become friendly competitors that don’t appear to be working much in concert.

When asked outside of the hearing which county might have a leg up, Kenosha Mayor Antaramian described both community’s chances as being equal.

It’s unclear just when Foxconn will announce a decision.
