A Good Samaritan foiled an attempted robbery at a hotel in Mount Pleasant just after Midnight on Friday.
Mount Pleasant police responded to a call from America’s Best Value Inn and Suites located on Durand Avenue and found the suspect being held down by a person who had stepped in to help the desk clerk. According to a police news release---that suspect---identified as 39-year-old Aaron B. McGraw---from Racine---had jumped over the counter and confronted the clerk saying that he had a gun. However, police say that a gun was not displayed. McGraw demanded the clerk open the cash register and give him all the money. The clerk was defiant and told the suspect that there were security cameras---so---McGraw started opening cabinets looking for money. The clerk yelled out for help and a Good Samaritan came to her assistance and subdued McGraw until Mount Pleasant Police arrived minutes later. No one was injured during the confrontation.
