Racine---A guard at the minimum security prison for females in Union Grove has been accused of having a sexual contact with an inmate. 47 year-old Katherine Rekau is facing three counts of 2nd degree sexual assault by corrections staff, punishable on each count by up to 40 years in prison. According to the criminal complaint, Rekau struck up a relationship with the inmate that included kissing, caressing and touching. Rekau was released from custody Tuesday after signing her own bond.
Kenosha---Mark Jensen's retrial on charges that he poisoned his wife has been scheduled to begin Mar. 6th of next year. Jensen's original conviction was overturned because a 'letter from the grave' had been improperly submitted as evidence to help prove that Julie Jensen thought her husband was trying to kill her. At a status conference Tuesday, Jensen's attorney said she plans to argue that her client's $1.2 million bail be reduced. A hearing was scheduled for this Oct.
Kenosha---A 23 year old man who had just gotten out of jail on another charge is being accused of firing a gun at a man last month in dispute over a woman. Fabian Johnson is being held on a hold stemming from the older charges. Bond was set Tuesday at $250,000 on a set of new counts. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to his thigh as he was walking in the 6100 blk. of 20th Ave. The incident occurred during the afternoon of July 18th. Bullets also entered two homes in the area. No one else was hurt.
