(WGTD)---Authorities have released new information in the case of a police pursuit that ended with a crash and the death of the driver who was being chased. The driver, believed to be a 31-year-old Kenosha man, collided with a pickup at 52nd St. and Sheridan Rd. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kenosha police said Thursday afternoon that a gun was recovered from the suspect's vehicle. Minutes earlier, police had responded to a south side neighborhood on reports of shots being fired at two locations blocks apart. A red Cadillac reportedly was involved.

Police spotted a car matching the description leaving the area and tried unsuccessfully to stop the vehicle.

With two squads in pursuit, the driver crashed into the pickup at Sheridan and 52nd St. The driver of the pickup wasn't hurt, but the man's daughter was treated for minor injuries..

According to reports from the scene, a second person may have been in the suspect's vehicle, but that hasn't been confirmed by police.

The suspect's identity has not been confirmed, either.

The state Division of Criminal Investigations is leading the crash investigation.
