(WGTD)---A high-speed chase that began Sunday afternoon---just after 3 o’clock---on I-94 in Kenosha County was terminated when the vehicle being pursued exited the freeway at Highway 11 in Racine County. But---the driver of the vehicle continued to drive recklessly---at a high rate of speed----through parts of western Racine County---so a Racine County Sheriff Deputy initiated a traffic stop---but---the driver ignored it and headed east on Highway 20. Spike strips were eventually deployed---and---successfully deflated one of the car’s tires. The car traveled a short distance before driving into---and---getting stuck in a field in Mount Pleasant. Two people jumped from the car and fled. A 36-year-old man and 42-year-old woman---both from Milwaukee County---were arrested following a short foot pursuit.
According to a news release from the Racine County Sheriff’s department---both admitted to ingesting heroin/fentanyl and Xanax. Drug paraphernalia was found in the car---all of it tested positive for heroin and cocaine. Both people are being held in the Racine County jail and face multiple felony charges
