Inmate Found Dead in Kenosha

An inmate found dead at the Kenosha County Pre-trial Facility Wednesday morning is believed to be Lucia Hernandez-Alvarez, who---last month---pleaded guilty to killing her two children back in September. In a press release---the Kenosha Sheriff's Department reported the inmate---whom they did NOT identify---was found dead in bed at just before 7 a.m. on Wednesday.  Several media outlets are reporting that officials with the Kenosha District Attorney's office said the dead inmate is Hernandez-Alvarez. She had pleaded guilty to killing her children, ages 1 and 3, by alleging giving them large doses of ibuprofen and acetaminophen---then---putting plastic bags over their heads to suffocate them. She then tried to kill herself with a knife. Her trial was set for later this month---her defense team planned to argue that she was not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect. It’s still unclear how she died yesterday. The Racine County Sheriff’s Department is investigating---based on an agreement between the two sheriff’s departments---for cases like this.(Photo credit: Hispanic News Network)
