Inside Look at Prison Project and a Star Graduate

A star alum of UW Parkside Professor Jonathan Shailor’s ‘Shakespeare in Prison’ project returned to the area recently to share his experiences with Shailor’s students, and speak with Greg Berg on the Morning Show.

46 year-old Haisan Williams was released from the Racine Correctional Institution in Sturtevant three years ago after having served a pair of stints behind bars that totaled some 23 years. Williams is now employed as a server at an upscale restaurant in Green Bay, and hopes to buy a house soon with his girlfriend.

While in prison, Williams had roles in four Shakespeare plays. He says interacting with his fellow inmate/actors strengthened his relationship-building and leadership skills, and improved his self-discipline.
