(WGTD)---A pair of Kenosha City Council committees passed a watered-down resolution Monday night that recommends that employees of licensed establishments wear masks to help minimize the spread of COVID-19.
The resolution, as introduced by the mayor, would’ve made the suggestion mandatory. But the committees approved a version that simply recommends the move.
The amended version also suggests that employers post their mask-wearing policies at the door.
Ald. Keith Rosenberg said he wouldn’t have supported a mandate, calling such a move "overreach." Rosenberg said he hopes that businesses will take the hint, and if they don't, Rosenberg and other council members said they personally won't patronize those establishments.
The mask measure now goes to the full council for consideration.
