(WGTD)---If all goes as planned, the City of Kenosha will launch a $250,000 study next year to develop a strategic plan for the Kenosha Public Library.
Speaking on The Morning Show, Library Director Sarah Townsend said such a comprehensive study has never before been done. "The idea is to bring in library consultants and architects to look at all of our physical locations to survey the community, looking at what the community's needs are and to make recommendations about what KPL will need in the future in terms of library building," she said.
The study is expected to include recommendations on a possible west side branch and a look at priorities for the 126 year-old Simmons Library near downtown Kenosha.
The money for the study is included in the city’s capital improvement plan for next year.
In addition to Simmons, the city’s library system includes branches on the southwest and north sides of town, and two facilities in Uptown—the new Children’s Library and the small Uptown Library a few blocks away.
