(WGTD)---The WGTD Radio Theater, now in its 15h season, will broadcast “Hercule Poirot: Murder on the Mounds,” an original murder mystery based on the famous Belgian detective series created by Dame Agatha Christie one hundred years ago.
The show will air Saturday, Nov. 2nd at 11:15 from the Lake Lawn Room at Lake Lawn Resort in Delavan, Wisconsin.
This original story, written by co-executive producers and writers, Steven Brown and Michael Ullstrup, is based loosely on the early 20th century discoveries of Indian mounds found in the Delavan, Wisconsin area. Inspector Poirot visits Delavan and Lake Lawn Resort to help solve a new murder.
Hercule Poirot, is the world-renowned, mustachioed Belgian private detective, created by Agatha Christie, who is unsurpassed in his intelligence and understanding of the criminal mind, respected and admired by police forces and heads of state across the globe. Since his inception one hundred years ago, Poirot has stolen the hearts and minds of audiences around the world, and his celebrated cases have been recorded across thirty three original novels and over fifty short stories.
The Indian mounds in the Lake Delavan area have stirred the interests and imaginations of many for well over 100 years. The May 4th, 1912 edition of the New York Times reported what might be one of the strangest giant skeleton discoveries of all.
An excavation of one large mound on Lake Lawn Farm near Lake Delavan revealed the skeletal remains of eighteen individuals measuring between 7.6 and 10 feet. The “heretofore unknown race of men” were found to have six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, as well as double rows of teeth in their large, elongated skulls.
According to co-writer Steve Brown, “The Inspector Poirot series of novels and television programs have always been extremely popular. Poirot uses psychology and his extensive knowledge of human nature to weed out the criminals. He will of course take physical evidence into account, but more often than not, his combination of order, method and his little grey cells does the trick. He is a perfect ‘solver of crimes’ for our radio theater audience.”
The cast includes Todd Eaves (Inspector Poirot), Susan Lien (Agatha Christie), Rene Bushelle, Siegfried Christoph, Viki DuMez, Jill Jensen, and Kathy Zuhlke. The radio drama is directed by Viki DuMez, with live sound effects created by Mike Ullstrup.
Show admission for this broadcast at Lake Lawn resort is $10 per person, and includes a $5 discount coupon to be used the day of the show for a breakfast or lunch entree or buffet in the Frontier Restaurant or for a lunch entree in the Lookout Bar & Eatery.
