The Latest - New COVID-19 Cases, Kenosha City Hall Closed Until May 1st, Racine Sheriffs Department No Longer Physically Responding to All Calls and More

(WGTD)--- Kenosha's City Hall is now closed to public access. The City will no longer be allowing citizens to vote early except in extenuating circumstances. The city is encouraging people to request an absentee ballot at http://myvote.wi.gov. Those not registered can call to schedule an appointment to register at 262-653-4020 

Hearings- Municipal Court hearings scheduled March 19th - April 30th will be rescheduled unless deemed by the court. 

Parks - The Dream Playground Park is closed until further notice.

Kohls announced that it is closing all of its US stores until at least April 1st due to COVID-19. Stores will close at 7:00pm tonight. The retailer will continue to sell online and ship to homes. Macy's, Nordstorm, and Lands End have all announced store closures.

New COVID-19 cases were identified in the WGTD listening area. Walworth County now has two cases. Racine County now has 3 confirmed cases, after two individuals tested positive in the City of Racine.

The City of Racine Sherrifs department said in a statement released to WGTD News that they will no longer physically respond to all calls. If a call can be dealt with via phone, a deputy will call the citizen back.

Mayor Cory Mason responded Thursday to the first two cases of COVID-19 in The City of Racine. Mason says he "is committed to ensuring the health and safety of the community; If we work together, we will flatten the curve."

The Kenosha County Clerk, Treasurer, and Register of Deeds offices have new operating Procedures. 

County Clerk - Marriage license applications will be processed from 1-4pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. In order to increase social distancing, those interested should call 262-653-2552 to schedule an appointment.

Country Treasurer - The public is encouraged to to pay taxes and request information through mail or online at https://www.KenoshaCounty.org/589/Treasurer 

Register of Deeds - The office will not process vital records applications in person. Applications can be picked up and then mailed at a later date.

The City of Kenosha Yard Waste/Brush drop off site located at 4071 88th Ave has delayed its opening until April 27th, 2020.

The Walworth County Senior Dining program is still serving meals "to-go." The service still operates Monday through Friday. Reservations are required one day in advance by Noon. Those interested should call 262-741-3333. The Meals on Wheels program is operating as usual.
