Lightning Strike Damages a Kenosha Home

Kenosha---An apparent lightning strike early Tuesday evening blew a hole in the roof of a single-family home on the city's north side and touched off a fire.

Firefighters were summoned to 4130 47th Ave. at about 7  by the home's occupants who had discovered the blaze upon returning home after having been gone for a couple of hours.

The fire was confined to the attic, but the rest of the home sustained water damage, making it unlivable.

The hole on the roof, according to Batallion Chief Matt Haerter, was about three feet in diameter and was located on the back side of the structure.
