A Kenosha police officer was hurt during the early hours of the new year in a crash at 63rd St. and 14th Ave. The officer was injured when the driver of a van apparently failed to yield the right of way and struck the squad car. The officer and the van driver and a passenger were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The state patrol was called in to investigate.
In a separate overnight incident, a Kenosha police officer is under investigation in a battery case. According to a news release put out by Chief Daniel Miskinis, 29 year-old Kendal West was on-duty when he became involved in an "altercation stemming from a personal matter." The Racine County Sheriff's Dept. is investigating. The release says West was arrested on charges that included battery and was placed on administrative leave.
