Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at Gateway

Gateway Technical College’s 25th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Celebration takes place at Noon Monday in the Madrigrano Auditorium on the school’s Kenosha campus. This year’s theme is: “One Voice---Many Stories.” Doors open at 11:30. The program runs from Noon til 1:30pm. Attendees will hear from keynote speaker Gregg Riley—who is -a Dr. King re-enactor---as well as well as Kirsten Anglea who will speak on “The Power of Your Story.”

Four people will also be recognized as this year’s Dr. King Humanitarians. They are Reverend Jonathan Barker and Karen Kempinen---the co-founders of Empower Uptown---a group that encourages inner city residents to register and vote. Also honored will be Betty Brenneman---a member of Coming Together Racine---a group with a mission to challenge and eliminate racism---and---Pastor Leon Brown who helps feed the hungry and poor through the Kingdom Manna Food Pantry.
