Mom Allegedly Shoots at Dad; Star Witness is the Couple's 4 year-old

A Racine woman allegedly drove up and shot at her ex-boyfriend while the couple's four year-old daughter was sitting in her car just inches away.

27 year-old Jasmine Phillips was charged Wednesday with attempted murder, discharging a firearm from a vehicle and carrying a gun while intoxicated. She's being held on a cash bond of $50,000.

According to the criminal complaint, the ex-boyfriend was at Gateway Technical College in Racine taking a test Tuesday morning when he started arguing with Phillips over the phone and via text message. The couple have two children together, including the four year-old.

The discussion purportedly ended with Phillips saying she planned to go to Gateway to shoot him.

There was in fact a shooting, but it occurred on a city street about a mile away after the man left campus. Phillips, with the child in the car, apparently spotted his vehicle and started to follow. At one point, Phillips pulled out a gun and allegedly fired three shots at the man and his car. The victim said he ducked down in his seat. He wasn't hit, but police found three bullet holes in the side of his car.

Phillips was picked up a short time later. The couple's four year-old cooperated with police, telling them what had happened and where her mother had hid the gun, a Glock semi-automatic pistol.
