Kenosha---No surprises--- Sunday night---in Kenosha at a town hall meeting organized by the liberal activist group Forward Kenosha. The group says that Congressman Paul Ryan is ignoring his constituents’ concerns by not scheduling any town hall meetings in his district. So---they say they did it for him. Last week---a spokesman for Congressman Ryan called this town hall meeting a publicity stunt.
About 400 people---many with homemade signs---turned out at UAW Local 72 for last night’s meeting. Paul Ryan was not one of them. His absence was signified by an empty chair placed center stage. The signs protested everything from the proposed border wall to dismantling Obamacare to foreign policy.
About 40 people had pre-registered to speak at the event and an unknown number signed up at the event. All speakers were asked to “turn down the noise because there is power in listening.”
A small number of elected representatives were on hand including State Representatives Peter Barca and Tod Ohnstad and Aldermen John Fox and Curt Wilson.
