Pick-Up Driver Dies in a Racine Pond; Woman Pulled From Kenosha Crash

A pickup winds up in a pond in Racine while a car flips onto its roof in Kenosha's Forest Park neighborhood. The driver of the car was flown to a Milwaukee hospital, while the driver of the pick-up dies.

In the Racine accident, near the Chase Bank off of Green Bay Road, witnesses reported that the pick-up was spotted being driven erratically, before it struck a pole, plunged down an embankment and landed in the water and slowly sank. An off-duty firefighter tried but failed to reach the driver. He was pulled out by Racine Fire Dept. divers less than 20 minutes later.

In the Kenosha crash, the driver struck a tree, causing the car to flip on its roof. She had to be extricated from the wreckage.

No word on the cause of either of the Monday evening crashes.
