Police Officer Narrowly Escapes Injury in a Hit and Run

Mt. Pleasant---Even occupied police vans aren't immune from a hit and run driver.

A Mt. Pleasant cop--assigned to take a report of an assault--pulled over to park next to the curb at 5321 16th St just after 10 Wednesday night. As he was stepping to the pavement, the officer noticed another vehicle coming up from behind that was starting to veer toward his vehicle, a transport van.

Fearing the worst, the cop hopped back inside.

Sure enough, the vehicle--described as some type of dark sedan--side swiped the police van, destroying the door. The officer wasn't hurt.

Police are still looking for the offending driver.

The location of the incident---5321 16th St.---is a few blocks east of Green Bay Road and near Giese Elementary.
