Primary Election Results

Here are the highlights from yesterday’s primary election. Tony Evers (pictured) won the Democratic primary for governor---so---he will face off against Governor Scott Walker in November. Mahlon Mitchell came in 2nd and Kelda Roys was 3rd.  State Senator Leah Vukmir defeated political newcomer Kevin Nicholson by about 40,000 votes in the GOP US Senate primary---so---she takes on incumbent Democratic US Senator Tammy Baldwin in the November general election.  1st District Congressman Paul Ryan announced earlier this year that he would NOT run for re-election---so---the race for his open seat was hotly contested on both sides of the aisle.  Attorney Bryan Steil---a Republican---and ironworker Randy Bryce---a Democrat---both easily won their primary elections and will face off in November.  In the Democratic primary for Kenosha County sheriff--- Kenosha County Sheriff’s Sgt. David Zoerner defeated Kenosha County Board Supervisor Andy Berg 6,866 votes to 4,422 votes. He will face incumbent Sheriff Dave Beth in November. In the GOP primary in the 62nd Assembly District---in Racine County---to replace Tom Weatherston---who is retiring---Robert Wittke beat John Lieber by a 3-1 margin. Wittke is president of the Racine Unified School Board. He will face off against John Lehman in the November election.
