UPDATE: Driving School Closed for Lack of Insurance
Less than a month after the DMV closed down the KTown Driving School in Kenosha---the agency announced today it was shutting down the Just Drive Driver Education School in Racine. To be clear---Just Drive is a franchise operation---and the closure only affect the Racine school. There is a Just Drive franchise in Kenosha that is NOT affected by this. Debbie Kramer---from the DMV---said the driving school was shut down because it did not have the necessary insurance. The school was ordered shut down for 90 days. If it secures the needed insurance it can then re-open.
The DMV is in the process of obtaining student enrollment information and is identifying other driving school options for the school’s 80 registered students as well as how they can recover lost tuition payments through the state-required bond. The DMV will be contacting students via e-mail with all the necessary information. Kramer did say some other driving schools have reached out to the DMV to offer assistance---but---she said it’s impossible to know at this time if there is enough space available at other schools for all the students,
The KTown Driving School---in Kenosha---was closed---in November--- because it was using a non-licensed instructor. Other minor violations were cited as well.
