Pleasant Prairie---A construction crew at the RecPlex accidentally severed a sprinkler pipe which put in motion a series of events that led to an unscheduled closure of the large municipally-owned recreation center Tuesday.
Water drained onto electrical equipment, tripping fuses and leading to a power outage in the older part of the building. The newer Ice Arena was not affected.
According to a news release from the village, kids enrolled in a daycare and participants of therapeutic recreation programs were evacuated to the Arena while others were sent home.
The RecPlex will stay closed for the rest of Tuesday, but is expected to reopen Wednesday. The Ice Arena is open.
