(WGTD)---A Republican has expressed an interest in running for the Kenosha area Assembly seat that was recently vacated by Peter Barca who resigned to become Gov. Ever's Revenue Dept. secretary.
Mark Stalker is a former Kenosha School Board member. Stalker, and three Democrats, Tip McGuire, Gina Walkington and Spencer Zimmerman, join a fifth potential candidate, Constitution Party member Thomas Harland, in having filed campaign registration statements.
The candidates have until March 5th to file nomination papers.
A primary election, if one is needed, will be held April 2nd. The general election is set for April 30th.
McGuire is a former member of Barca’s office staff. Walkington is a community activist from Bristol who said she’d move into the district if elected. Zimmerman, a Janesville resident, said he's sought a number of offices in recent years without success. Zimmerman identifies the full release of JFK assassination files as a top issue.
