The first 7 graduates of an innovative workforce training program---in Racine---that allows participants to get paid while they get trained to enter high-demand, high-paying career fields were honored last week. Start IT is a private-public collaboration between Racine County Workforce Solutions and Leeward Business Advisors that was launched last Fall. It is geared towards Racine County residents between the ages of 18 and 24 with an interest in computers---and---offers them the training needed to obtain family-supporting jobs. The 7 graduates completed a 16-week training program in the help-desk cyber security phase of Start IT.
