Shirts Turn Health Dept. Staff Into Human Billboards For Healthy Living

Racine---Striving to use every opportunity within reason to advocate for healthy living, the Health Department has purchased T-shirts for department employees to wear on the job.

The shirts, financed with a grant, make references to annual breast cancer screening, tobacco cessation programs and volunteer positions with the city's medical reserve corp.

"Health Department employees wearing the shirts will serve as walking billboards in Racine," said Public Health Administrator Dottie-Kay Bowersox in a news release. "This is an opportunity to engage the community and promote life-saving services to people who may not otherwise know about our programs."

The expectation is that the shirts will be worn while employees are working clinics, performing home visits and inspecting restaurants.
