A Union Grove shooting late Monday night was preceded by a family argument, according to a criminal complaint.
41 year-old Phyllis Madeja purportedly shot her husband in the stomach after he punched her in the face, culminating a shoving match that took place in the family home. The account was provided by a friend of the couple's 17 year-old son who had witnessed the events leading up to the shooting. The boys had been watching Netflix.
The victim is recovering.
Phyllis Madeja was charged Wednesday with endangering safety and reckless injury. She's being held on a $15,000 bond.
The complaint says the woman freely admitted to shooting her husband. "I know that I should not have shot my husband," she purportedly said at the hospital. "I feel bad about that."
Investigators recovered two handguns from the home.
