Thunderstorms Last Night: Good News and Bad News

Some people welcomed yesterday’s rainfall---others---not so much. Southeastern Wisconsin has seen a far smaller amount of rain this year than usual---so---farmers, gardeners---and---homeowners with lawns---were likely happy to see yesterday’s rain. But---the severe thunderstorms that rolled through the area last night DID also cause some havoc in parts of the WGTD listening area.  Trees were knocked down in northern Walworth County---and---the evening performances at Country Thunder were canceled. The National Weather Service reports that ½ inch of rain fell at the Kenosha airport---about ¼ inch in Burlington---but---just a trace at Batten Field in Racine.

In a related note---the heat wave is expected to continue through the weekend---so---the park fees will be waved at Silver Lake Beach today for Kenosha County residents---so everyone can go jump-in-the-lake!   However---non-residents will still be charged $10 per vehicle.  The beach is on 85th Street in Salem.

Lifeguards are on duty from 10am – 6pm.
