Two Water-Related Tragedies in Racine on the 4th of July

Not one---but two---tragic---water-related incidents in Racine on the 4th of July.  In a press release---Racine police say a 14-year-old boy drowned while swimming in the Root River at the Washington Park Golf Course Tuesday afternoon. The initial investigation showed he was playing---with friends---in an area where a storm sewer drains. He has not yet been identified.

Then---later in the evening police responded to the 800-block of Pershing Park Drive for a report of a child who fell off the rocks and was under the water. Officers located the child in the water and pulled him out. The press release on that incident indicated that the child still had a pulse following the rescue---and---was transported to Children's Hospital. There's been no update on the victim's condition. His name hasn't been released, either.
