Walworth County may be a leading area for agriculture in Wisconsin but the sheriff’s department recently found indoor cultivation that’s led to an arrest. A 40 year old Town of Richmond man is accused of growing marijuana in his home. Walworth County Sheriff’s deputies, assisted by the county drug enforcement unit, entered an unoccupied home with search warrants last week, in the northwest part of the county halfway between Whitewater and Darien. Inside a basement growing room they found 32 live marijuana plants at different stages of growth, nearly two pounds of the harvested substance being processed, a quantity of suspected illegal mushrooms and a hunting shotgun just outside the grow room. Justin Evans was later arrested and charged with manufacture and possession of the illegal substances along with possession of drug paraphernalia used in cultivation and manufacturing. (The marijuana plants pictured are not those discovered. It is a file photo.)
