What a way to start the new year.
Opening the mail that piled up over the holiday, we came across an envelope with a California return address and a check inside for $1,000.
The couple that sent the check wants to remain anonymous.
The check was accompanied by this note: “We are making this donation to improve NPR’s outreach in your listening area in recognition of the nation’s currently volatile political situation. We believe that journalism that speaks truth is more important now than ever before.”
We’ve always taken our responsibilities seriously here, and we’re gratified to know that our listeners realize the value of public radio.
We’re grateful for the support we receive from the community, and the assistance we receive from our partners at NPR, Wisconsin Public Radio and in Racine, WRJN. We strive every day to offer programming that hopefully will lead to a more informed public — one challenged and invigorated by a deeper understanding and appreciation of events, ideas and cultures.
