Racine---It’s been almost a year since 34 year-old Vaughan Chattman was found dead in his Taylor Ave. home of a gunshot wound by an unknown assailant.
At the time of his death, Chattman was described by relatives as a gentle person. His ten year-old son’s appearance at football practice just a day after his dad’s death served as inspiration for his coach and fellow teammates.
Racine Police haven’t forgotten. Spokesman Adam Malacara says the case is still the subject of an active investigation. "There's been some progress with some developing information but it's still an active, open homicide investigation," Malacara says. "We're still seeking assistance."
Anyone with information is asked to call the police department. Malacara says unsolved cold cases such as this weigh heavily on the minds of those involved.
Chattman was not without well-documented legal and personal issues, including drug-related convictions.
