(WGTD)---A 26-year-old woman apparently walked into Browns Lake---in Burlington--- last night---and---spent 35-45 minutes in the 40-50-degree water before being rescued by two local fishermen. The incident started Monday night just before 7:30 when the Racine County Communications Center received a call about a suspicious vehicle in the 3500 block of Caldwell Drive in Burlington. The caller said that a vehicle pulled into their driveway and a female got out of the vehicle and walked towards Browns Lake and then disappeared. Racine County Sheriff’s Deputies responded and located the vehicle and checked the surrounding area but did not locate the female. Deputies did find a cell phone near the water but were still unable to locate the female from the vehicle. Just after 8 pm the Racine County Communications Center received a rescue call about a woman who was pulled out of Browns Lake by fishermen and that she was suffering from hypothermia and they were taking her to shore. Deputies and rescue personnel responded.
The 26-year-old female told deputies that she wanted to swim across Browns Lake. The woman was transported to a hospital for medical treatment and a possible mental health evaluation.
