At 100, Frank's Diner Changes Owners

July 15, 2026 6:45p

(WGTD)---Kenosha transplants Kevin Ervin and his wife Julie Rittmiller remember the first day they walked into Frank's Diner in downtown Kenosha.

"We were like, oh yeah, this is the kind of place we like. This is a joint. This is a dive. We love it," said Ervin on WGTD last year.

Kevin and Julie became regular customers, got to know the owners, Chris Schwartz and Lynn Groleau, and eventually bought the iconic establishment from them in 2010 with minimal restaurant experience.

Now it's their turn to pass the place to new owners who promise to be just as passionate about running it as they are. Longtime employee Pablo Escribano and his wife Diana will take the reins at the end of the month. They'll be Frank's sixth overall owners.

With its homemade specials and enormous "garbage plates", Frank's is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year as the longest continually operating diner in America.

Kevin and Julie say they plan to remain in Kenosha in retirement.
