Ins & Outs of Snow Emergency Parking Enforcement

(WGTD)---Violating a municipality’s snow emergency parking ban can lead to expensive tickets and can even result in your vehicle being towed.

In Kenosha, as could be the case elsewhere, enforcement is not always by the book.

In response to questions from city council members following the last big storm, Police Chief Daniel Miskinis wrote in an email there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to enforcement as the department’s primary goal is to seek compliance--- not raise extra revenue for the city.

As a result, police place a priority on complaints from city snow plow operators who are unable to get through because vehicles are still blocking the way.

Nearly 500 parking citations were issued as a result of that late January storm. Only four vehicles were towed.

Miskinis said citations won’t be issued if a vehicle is on a street that’s already been plowed.
